Mrs. Willie Lonnise Bannerman, age 78, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2026, at Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. She leaves behind a cherished family, including her sons, Bradford and Brandon Bannerman, and grandchildren, Chimia Lonnise Bannerman, Brandon A. Bannerman, Bradford T. Bannerman, Taraji Bannerman, King Bannerman, and Royalty Bannerman. Her siblings, Arlene James, Eddie McKoy, and Callie Edu, along with special nieces Andelicia James and Shemell L. Hutchinson, and numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, join in mourning her loss.

A dedicated educator, Mrs. Bannerman extended her nurturing spirit to her students, considering them as part of her extended family. Her genuine relationships with former students reflected her passion and warmth. She was deeply involved in her church, contributing in various roles, and enjoyed the peacefulness of nurturing her flowers and spending time outdoors. Above all, her family was the center of her life.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Maple Hill AME Church, Highway 53, Maple Hill, NC, with interment to follow in the Lisane Family Cemetery in Maple Hill, NC. 

Viewing for relatives and friends is scheduled for Friday, November 6, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dunn Funeral Home Chapel, 810 West Wilmington Street, Burgaw, NC 28425.
