William Maurice, "Little John", Cassady transitioned on August 15, 2024, at Wake Memorial Hospital in Raleigh, NC.  He was the eldest son of William and Henrietta Cassady of Raleigh, NC. A graduate of Enloe High School, he attended North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC and Devry School of Technology in Atlanta, GA. His mechanical and technical skills were impeccable; he was often called by his aunts to" put this together" which he did with a smile. He loved to read and was an avid collector of comic books to which he amassed a collection of more than 300 vintage comic books.
Maurice's love for humankind was evident in his infectious smile and kind spirit. His heart rested in his love for God, his love and tenderness for his mother and his respect for his father. Maurice showed pride and joy in his five children and four grandchildren, who he loved and adored. His calm demeanor and infectious smile made him a favorite of many. He loved gourmet cooking and taking pictures of the meals he prepared. Maurice was an avid lover of gospel and r&b music.
Maurice was a member of Shalom Christian Community Church under the tutelage of Rev. Dr. Lola Fuller. At Shalom he found his place in the service of God and accepted God. He was loved by the officers and members of Shalom. He formed a bond with Deacon Robert Percell, a former Enloe classmate. Shalom offered him the opportunity to study and learn more about his salvation and God's love for him and mankind.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge New Bern #171 in Raleigh, NC.
Maurice leaves to cherish his life, his parents William and Henrietta Cassady of Raleigh, three sons, William, Joshua, Robert, and an adopted son Xavier Cassady, two daughters, Ashley McCullers and Aaliyah Cassady, Four grandchildren Isaiah, Michael, Devonte and Autumn, a brother Craig Stephen Cassady, one sister Erika Aziza Cassady, six aunts, two uncles, one great-great aunt, Berlina Matthews of Richmond, VA, a host of relatives and friends and a special childhood friend, Derrick Hawkins.

We thank God Maurice is healed on the other side.
