Sharla Daneechee Shiver Cromartie, who was born October 25, 1965, departed this life on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at her home in Rocky Point, NC.

Sharla was an energetic, intuitive, happy child who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She graduated high school in 1983 and pursued higher education at Johnson C. Smith University, Charlotte, NC, and later at A&T State University, Greensboro, NC. She was a hard-working young lady, and even had the opportunity to work as an assistant to Mayor Ed Koch of New York City before she fell victim to a catastrophic illness. Sharla lived surrounded by her family in Rocky Point. She was a member of Mt. Moriah A.M.E. Church where she joined at an early age and served as a junior usher until she moved away. Later, she returned to Rocky Point to live where she met and married Michael V. Cromartie. To this union one child, "ST", was born.

A visitation for family and friends will be 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 with the family present at 6 p.m. The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Mt. Moriah AME Church, Rocky Point, NC. Burial will be in the Bush Cemetery.
