Reverend Hayes was a devoted man of faith, deeply committed to his spirituality and family.
Reverend Clyde J. Hayes, age 72, of Rocky Point, North Carolina, transitioned peacefully to his heavenly home on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Novant Pender Memorial Hospital in Burgaw, North Carolina.
His life was a testament to faith, service, love, and dedication to those around him. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to live on through his family, friends, church family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May he rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord, and may his memory forever remain a blessing to those who loved him.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Annie Hayes; his children, Claudia Hayes Beatty, Catrelia Boykin and husband Patrick, and Crystal Hayes; and his grandchildren, Jayda Beatty, Justin Beatty, Ryan Hayes, Jerome K. Beatty, ReAnna Gregory husband Joshua, Jordan Beatty, Justice Beatty, Jairdin Boykin, Jameson Boykin, Mahayli Prempeh, and Maliyah Prempeh. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Ivy Hayes, Chandler Vanderhorst, Karter Beatty, and Jaxton and Rowan Gregory; siblings Raymond Hayes, Curtis Hayes, Catherine Davis, Phillip Hayes, and Cynthia Hayes; as well as a host of family and friends.
His legacy will be lovingly carried on by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A service to celebrate Reverend Hayes's life and dedication will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at The Middle District Baptist Association in Burgaw, NC. Burial will follow at the Fennell Town Memorial Garden in Rocky Point, NC. A walk through viewing is scheduled for Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home Chapel in Burgaw, NC.
Reverend Hayes was a devoted man of faith, deeply committed to his spirituality and family. His love for farming, fishing, and problem-solving earned him the title of "Master Mr. Fix It." An enthusiast of Star Trek and science fiction, he cherished his wife's cooking above all. His legacy will be lovingly carried on by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
