Pearlie Gurganious Graham, a cherished daughter of the late Tommie and Georgia Mae Gurganious, was born on November 11, 1945, in the serene surroundings of Pender County. Her life's journey came to a peaceful close on May 24, 2026, at the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center in Wilmington, North Carolina, leaving behind a legacy defined by faith, love, and devotion to family and the community.
Throughout her 80 years, Pearlie was a true woman of God whose spiritual foundation was unshakable. Her daily ritual of reading the Bible and faithful attendance at New Miracle Holiness Church in Riegelwood, NC, spoke volumes of her dedication. Beyond the sacred pages and hallowed pews, she was a beacon of warmth and compassion, extending the nourishment of both body and soul. Her kitchen was a sanctuary where she lovingly cooked and baked for family and anyone fortunate enough to be in need of good food, a testament to her generous heart.
Pearlie's spirit was as vibrant in her interactions as it was in her faith; congregations at area churches often welcomed her as a speaker and visitor, touched by her words and presence. The affection she inspired was profound—anyone who crossed her path felt the embrace of her nurturing nature, affectionately calling her "Mom," a tribute to the boundless love she bestowed upon all.
Her voice, both spoken and sung, was a treasured gift; singing was among her favorite joys, illuminating her gatherings with melody and grace.
Pearlie's enduring legacy is lovingly carried forward by her children: James, Erick, Demetrice, Arthur, Antwon, and Chavonne. Her spirit lives on vibrantly in her grandchildren—Erick Jr., Lamar, Ericka, Omari, Alyssa, Alayah, Aiden, and Dana—who embody her strength and kindness. She is also survived by her dear siblings Wilbert, Brenda, Timothy, Peggy, and Michael, who, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, mourn the loss of an extraordinary soul.
