Deacon Nathan Carl Hand, Sr., 78, of Maple Hill, died Monday, March 18, 2013 at his home.

Deacon Hand was born on February 5, 1935 in Pender County to the late Enzie and Mattie Ballard Hand.

He was a dedicated Deacon of Lee's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. His greatest joy was working with his hands.

He leaves to cherish his memory:

Great-Grandchildren: Rihanna; Gabriel; MaKayla; David and Autumn

Brother: Thomas Hand (Jackie), Whitestocking, NC

Sister: Hermenia Farrior (Nathan), Burgaw, NC

Sister-in-Law: Mary Elizabeth Hand, Burgaw, NC

The funeral will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Lee's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Maple Hill. Burial will be in the Lee Cemetery.
