Mr. Miles Sterling Nixon passed away on October 5, 2026, at Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Born on December 13, 1978, in Tarrytown, New York, he lived a life marked by love, faith, and devotion to those around him. His passing is remembered in the words, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:” — 2 Timothy 4:7.
Miles was a loving man whose presence brought warmth to the lives of many. He was a barber by trade, serving others through his work and the everyday connections it created. He was a graduate of North Carolina Central University of Durgam, NC, and carried that accomplishment with pride.
He also found joy in life’s simple and spirited moments. Fishing was among his cherished interests, and he had a deep love for sports, especially basketball and football. In his high school years, he played those sports, reflecting the energy and determination that remained part of his character throughout his life.
Above all, Miles will be remembered by his family. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Mileah Nixon, and his mother, Annie Nixon, who will hold him close in their hearts and remember him with enduring love. He was preceded in death by his father, Miles Nixon, whose memory now welcomes him home.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on October 14, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 810 W Wilmington St, Burgaw, NC 28425. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the same location.
