Mr. Lawrence Burns, born January 4, 1961, in Newark, New Jersey, passed away on October 7, 2026, at Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina.

A truck driver by trade, Mr. Burns lived as a devoted family man whose charismatic and loving spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He will be remembered not only for his dedication to his work, but for the warmth, humor, and kindness he carried into the lives of his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude Burns; his father, Lawrence Burns, Sr.; and his brother, Andre Burns. Their memories remained woven into the story of his life, and now he is reunited with those who went before him.

Lawrence leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving wife, Mae Simmons Burns; his bonus children: LaDel, Glacia (Jonathon), Thynell, Jr., Cedric (Sabrina), and Jasmine; his bonus grandchildren: D’Kyra, Jayla, Ty’Asia, Jayden, Chandler, Creighton, Amillion; his sister, Jonita Dickens; his brother Andre Farmer; his nephew, Ali Burns; four nieces, Jasmine Burns, Tamikah Burns, Zaniyah Moss, and Ayannah Moss; along with a host of aunts, cousins, extended family members and dear friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on October 16, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 9374 Southern Blvd SE, Winnabow, North Carolina 28479. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the same location.
