It is with deep respect and heartfelt sympathy that we announce the passing of May Ola Simpson, a beloved member of the Pender County community, who was born on October 29, 1939, and passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, at the Northchase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wilmington, North Carolina.

May Ola Simpson was a woman whose warmth and kindness endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was known for her lovable nature, touching the lives of many with her genuine spirit and caring heart. A devoted churchgoer, she found comfort and joy in her faith community. She also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including indulging in long naps and being an avid fan of soap operas, pastimes that brought her peace and happiness.

Among her most cherished achievements was the joy she felt when she became a grandmother—a role she embraced with pride and love. This milestone was a source of great fulfillment and a testament to the importance she placed on family.

May Ola is survived by her loving daughter Patsy Pickett and her husband Joseph, who carry forward her legacy of love and devotion. While the sorrow of her loss is profound, her memory remains a beacon of comfort and inspiration to her family and all who knew her.

Family, friends, and community members are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Dunn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, located at 810 W Wilmington St, Burgaw, NC 28425, on April 17, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A Celebration of Life service will follow on April 18, 2026, from 1:00 PM at the same location, providing an opportunity to honor her remarkable life and enduring spirit.

Interment will take place at the Simpson Cemetery in the Long Creek community of Rocky Point, North Carolina, where she will rest alongside her ancestors in the peaceful surroundings of the community she called home.
