Marcus "Bud" Moore, Jr.

Marcus "Bud" Moore, Jr., born on October 5, 1946, in Pender County, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center of Wilmington, North Carolina. He leaves behind a rich legacy cherished deeply by his family and community.

Bud’s life was marked by his devotion to family and his warm, welcoming nature. Known to all as a man who never met a stranger, he cultivated a spirit of kindness and connection that touched everyone he encountered. He was profoundly family oriented, nurturing strong bonds with his children and sharing a particularly special relationship with his grandchildren.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Phyllis M. Moore. His children—Joseph, Tonya, DuWan, Ashley, Alisha, Tenisha, and Diamond—carry forward his memory, as do his sibling, Marsha Oveide, and a treasured niece, Marion “Smiley” Ingram. Marcus also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who held him in highest regard and whose lives he enriched.

Professionally, Marcus was admired as a great electrician, a skill he took immense pride in. His love extended to simple joys, such as watching NBA basketball games and driving his beloved big red truck, both emblematic of the warmth and enthusiasm he brought to life.

The homegoing service to honor Marcus "Bud" Moore, Jr.'s life will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Lakes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, located at 10420 Point Caswell Road, Willard, NC 28478. Interment will follow at the Lakes Chapel Church Cemetery on Halfway Branch School Road in Atkinson, NC.

A viewing for relatives and friends to pay their respects will take place the evening prior, on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Dunn Funeral Home Chapel.

Marcus "Bud" Moore, Jr. will be remembered as a man whose heart was as vast as his community, a man who found joy in family, friendship, and the simple pleasures of life. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
