Linda Fay Bress, age 70, of Sunset Beach, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on
14 February 2026. Linda was born on 18 December 1955, in Elizabethtown, North
Carolina, to James Edward Bress and Hannah Louise (Miller) Bress. Raised in
Springfield, Massachusetts, she later moved to Riegelwood, North Carolina and last
resided in Sunset Beach, North Carolina.
Linda leaves her eldest child, daughter, Ja Vonda (Hall) Rhodes, son Corey Lavern
Bress, and granddaughter Sanaya Rhodes. Linda grew up in Springfield,
Massachusetts and graduated from Commerce High School. Shortly after graduating
Linda moved to and remained in North Carolina. Professionally, Linda owned and
operated a child day care center in Riegelwood. She was an avid baker and loved
gardening. She was an active member of her church and in her community.
Linda lost her parents Hannah Louise (Miller), Webb, and James Edward Bress. Linda
was eldest child of James and Hannah and sister to Darryl Bress and Angela (Bress)
Dixson. Her siblings were Clayton Freeman, James Junior Bress, Paul Bress, David
Bress (deceased), Carletta Bress, Elaine Blackwell, and Michael Blackwell.
A woman of deep spirituality and warmth, Linda embodied the essence of being family
oriented. Her proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly her children, whom she
loved fiercely and raised with unwavering devotion.
Linda’s legacy and life’s narrative is one filled with challenges met with grace and a
passion for life that never wavered. She fought valiantly until her final days, displaying a
strength that inspired those around her.
As we gather in a Celebration of Life Service, 28 February 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Dunn
Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 810 West Wilmington Street, Highway 53, West
Burgaw, NC, and followed by her burial at 12:30 PM, Graham Chapel Cemetery, 458 E
Arcadia Rd, Riegelwood, NC, as an opportunity for family and friends to share in the
memories and love that Linda fostered throughout her life.
