Listen to Obituary

Lee Dell Larkins, affectionately known as LeeDell to those who knew him best, passed away peacefully at his residence on March 27, 2026. Born on May 25, 1940, in Pender County, North Carolina, Lee lived a life marked by dedication, humor, and an unwavering love for his family.

For many years, Lee devoted himself to a career as a truck driver, a path that allowed him to embrace the open road and the freedom it brought. But those close to him will remember that beyond his steadfast work ethic, Lee was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, his fondness for sports and his skill in fixing various things around home and yard showcased a hands-on spirit and a heart rooted in care and curiosity.

Lee’s humor was a defining trait; he had a way of lighting up rooms with his wit and gentle teasing. Those who spent time with him fondly recall his ever-present coffee and nicotine, and his playful responses when questions became too many, often asking with a smirk, “Are you writing a book? Well, skip that chapter.” These moments of levity will forever remain cherished memories for his family and friends.

He was a family man through and through, and his love for those closest to him was evident in every interaction. Lee is survived by his children, Kevin Larkins, Shelly Larkins, Terrance Knox, and Traniece Jones, each carrying forward his legacy in their own unique ways. He was also blessed with siblings who stood by his side: Annette Judy Larkins, Claude Larkins, Calvin (Francies) Larkins, Filmore (Linda) Larkins, and Luther (Penny) Larkins. These family bonds sustained him and enriched the tapestry of his life.

Lee was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Robert and Maggie Larkins, as well as several dear family members and friends including Roderick, Carrie (Tony) Moore, Robert Larkins, Roy Larkins, Ernie (Dorothy) Larkins, Joseph Larkins, Celestine Britton, and Gerald Larkins, whose memories will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved them.
