Obituary

Janice D. Brown, affectionately known to those who loved her as "Brown" or  "JB", peacefully departed this world on December 22, 2025, at the home of her second oldest daughter in Fayetteville, North Carolina. A lively spirit was born on July 4, 1948, in the heart of Washington, DC. She lived a life layered with vibrant stories, firm boundaries and unyielding strength.

Janice was not just a mother; she was a force of nature. She leaves behind a legacy of  determination and a fierce loyalty to her family. Her children - Kimberly Sibbly, Karen Martin, Joseph Bowman, Jeanine Brown, James Brown, Kaneaka Moore, Janna Walker, Keri Price, and Keita Price - will carry forward her indomitable spirit and fierce love. Each of them, touched deeply by her influence, will remember their mother not only for her smile but also for her razor-sharp tongue and candid perspective on life. Known as a straight shooter and very outspoken person, Janice never held back the truth; if she loved you, you felt it, and if she didn’t, you certainly knew.

In addition to her beloved children, Janice is survived by her cherished sister, Teilya Gamble, and an ever-expanding legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will forever treasure the memories of their grandmother's indelible spirit. Whether through raucous laughter or heartfelt advice, Janice profoundly impacted the lives of everyone she encountered, showing them what it meant to genuinely care for others.

Each encounter with Janice was a dance of honesty and a testament to her living her best life. The warmth of her presence will linger in the hearts of her loved ones, a reminder of her uniqueness to tell it like it is, and to embrace life with unfiltered authenticity. As we bid farewell to this outspoken woman, we invite you to remember her soul as one who forged her path through the world with unrelenting love and an unequivocal voice.

Janice D. Brown may have left this earthly realm, but her spirit will undoubtedly continue to resonate, reminding us all of the strength and warmth she possessed.
