Janet Mae Grear, known as the "Queen", of Sharon, PA transitioned into Eternal Rest on March 29, 2020 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, NC. She was born November 2, 1932 to the late John Frank and Edna Davis, who preceded her in death.
Janet was raised in Masury, Ohio and accepted Christ at a young age at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She received her education in Brookfield, Ohio and was at the top of her class. She then went to the Atwater School of Cosmetology where she received her Cosmetology License. Janet worked at Sharon General Hospital before moving on to Packard Electric, a division of General Motors for approximately 30 years.
On December 26, 1951, Janet married Preston Grear, Jr. Their union produced three children named Clifford, Clifton and Scuownyuier (Penny).
Janet was a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church and loved serving others, but most of all loved the Lord with all her heart. Janet would say that the Lord always knew what you were doing; keep your hand in the Lord's Hand and always look up. Janet loved to read the Bible, sing songs of praise, and read other religious books.
Janet was a people person. She loved to take vacations and travel with many of her organizations. Janet loved to visit the nursing homes and bring smiles to individuals who were there, especially to those who did not receive a lot of visitors.
Janet was a member of the (ELKS) Zelphia Temple #66 where she held various positions. Her last position in the ELKS was an Escort. Janet was also a member of the Eastern Stars, Frontiers International of Mercer County (Honorary Member), United Daughter Ruler Council (Life Member), Associate Member Fraternal Order of Police, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary (Life Member), Willing Workers Club, and the Red Rose Club.
Janet leaves to cherish her memories, her loving daughter Scuownyuier (Penny) Stringfield of Willard, NC; her son Clifford M Grear of Sharon, PA; two granddaughters, Sheila Stringfield of Willard, NC and Courtney Dorogi of OH; a grandson, Thelton (Shannon) Stringfield Jr of Clinton, NC; two great grandchildren, Thelton Stringfield III and Ava Stringfield of Clinton, NC; three brothers, David (Ruby) of Atlanta, GA; Paul (Sadie) Davis of Youngstown, Ohio; William Davis of Washington, DC; one sister, Rose McNair of Washington, DC. Two godchildren, Luvretta M Holloway and Armond Holloway. Family who preceded her in death are her son, Clifton R Grear, three brothers named James, Edward, and Ernest. Janet also leaves to cherish her memories, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
