It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Edwards Watkins, aged 84, of Jacksonville, NC. A devoted husband to Elnora Holmes Watkins and loving father to Dr. David Brown, Mr. Watkins answered his call home on May 30, 2025, in the comfort of his residence.

To honor his life and legacy, a celebration of remembrance will take place on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Greater St. Paul United Holy Church, located at 1266 Webbtown Road, Maple Hill, NC 28454.

The family warmly welcomes friends and loved ones for a public visitation on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Dunn Funeral Home Chapel, 810 W Wilmington St, Burgaw, NC 28425.

Following the service, interment rites will be held at Holmes Family Cemetery in the Maple Hill Community.
