James Andrew Ellis, known to many as Andrew, passed away on August 29, 2026, at Wallace Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Wallace, North Carolina. He was born on April 20, 1954, in Duplin County, North Carolina, and will be remembered as a quiet, friendly man who would help anyone he could.
Andrew lived a life marked by hard work, service, and the things he loved most. He served in the Army, where he drove a petroleum truck, and later became a dedicated truck driver before retiring. His strong work ethic was matched by the pride he took in his personal accomplishments, especially his grandchildren.
He found joy in many interests that reflected both his energy and his heart. He was a lover of sports, enjoyed race cars and building them, and had a deep love for music. His faith was also expressed through service, as he loved singing in the choir and serving as a trustee.
Above all, Andrew treasured his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Mrs. Annie Ellis. He is also survived by his daughter Shelby Echols and her husband, Troy, and by his son Micheal Ellis and his wife, Zarina. His memory will live on in his grandchildren, Jaedyn, Olivia, Victoria, Ellijah, Micheal Ellis Jr., Jasmine, and Sarah, He enjoyed the companionship of his two grand dogs, Drake and Dove. who were among his proudest joys in life. He is also survived by four brothers, three sisters, one uncle, and many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews and host relatives and friends who will carry his memory forward with love.
James Andrew Ellis will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his kindness, steady presence, and generous spirit will not be forgotten. His life was one of service, devotion, and love, and his memory will remain a blessing to his family and friends.
