Obituary

Mr. James Lee Colvin, age 91, of Fayetteville, NC departed this life peacefully on Wednesday July 2, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of strength, service, and love.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, James served his country with honor and distinction, dedicating many years of his life to protecting the freedoms we cherish. After his retirement from the military, he continued to serve his community with integrity and kindness as a Deputy Sheriff.

James will be remembered for his unwavering strength, humble spirit, and deep love for his family, community and country.

He is survived by his devoted, loving wife Hazel Pridgen Colvin; children, Muriel Colvin Rankins(James), Debbie Colvin Watson(Marc); grandchildren, James Christopher Rankins, Mariel Elise Rankins, Chyna D. Colvin and Paige Nicole Horton; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

A homegoing service will be held 1:00pm Friday, July 11, 2025 at Moore's Swamp A.M.E. Church 1327 Barnhill Blueberry Lane, Ivanhoe, NC 28447.

Interment will follow in the Moore's Swamp A.M.E. Church cemetery with full military honors.

Viewing for relatives and friends will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025 during the hours of 6:00pm -8:00pm at Dunn Funeral Home Chapel 810 West Wilmington Street Burgaw, NC 28425.

James will be remembered for his unwavering strength, humble spirit, and deep love for his family, community and country.
