Mr. James Edward Bowen, age 72, formerly of Riegelwood, North Carolina, and a resident of the Whitestocking Community in Burgaw, entered into his eternal rest on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at his home.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Annie "Carolyn" Bowen; three beloved daughters, Letisha Murphy Kirby, Zipporah Jordan, and Chanel Jacobs; granddaughters, Tamiyah Spencer, Ivori Cobb, Trinity Jordan, Serenity Milsap and Nala Kirby; Sisters, Bernice Simpson (Lonnie), Jean Bowen (Craig); Brothers, Robert Bowen Sr., Ralph Bowen Jr. (Rena), Glenn Bowen, Carl Bowen, Moses Bowen (Hilda)and Kenneth Bowen along with a host of loving family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00pm on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Sandhill A.M.E. Church, Burgaw, NC. Interment will follow at Whitestocking Cemetery, Burgaw, NC.

A viewing for relatives and friends will take place on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home Chapel, 810 West Wilmington Street, Burgaw, NC.

James was a man who loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them. Known for his warm humor and kind heart, he never met a stranger. He loved to cook, found peace in fishing, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
