Henry M. Waddell, born on June 16, 1940, in Columbus County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Autumn Care of Shallotte, NC. He was known for his gentle spirit and his love for his family.
Henry is survived by his beloved sons, Roderick D. Waddell, Sr. and Titus Brown. He took immense pride in his role as a father and grandfather. His grandchildren, Mashonda Waddell, Marteaquo Waddell, Cameron Little, Naheeme Waddell, Alyssa Waddell, Keja Howard, Azariyah Dixon, Roderick Waddell Jr., and Khalil Brown, brought him great joy. Henry also had the pleasure of watching his family grow, being a cherished great-grandfather to nine great-grandchildren, along with countless nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who held him dear.
Service
His legacy will be honored during a homegoing service on Saturday, January 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Mount Pleasant A.M.E. Zion Church, located at 15956 Old Lake Road, Riegelwood, NC 28456. Interment will follow in the Mount Pleasant A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery.

Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects during the viewing, which will take place from 12:00 PM to 12:50 PM prior to the service.
Henry had a passion for life, often seen driving his tractor along the busy General Howe Road, enjoying the simplicity of rural living. He was a quiet man, possessing a keen sense of humor that endeared him to those who knew him. As a talented artist, he could draw anything that came to mind, showcasing a creativity that left an impression on all around him.
In his leisure time, Henry found happiness in watching western television shows and listening to soulful music, which resonated with his spirit. Above all, it was family time that he cherished most, with his granddaughters holding a special place in his heart; even so, he found a particular fondness for his known favorite Mashonda.
Henry M. Waddell will be remembered for the love he shared and the impact he made on the lives of those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and artistry that will continue to inspire generations to come.
