On July 10, 2026, Gloria Holmes gently departed this world at the age of 82 in her cherished Angola Community of Maple Hill, NC. Gloria's legacy is lovingly continued by her children, Reginald Holmes (Salathiel), Latilda Holmes, Aniesa Holmes, and Barbette Colvin (Eugene); her beloved grandchildren, including Darius Holmes, Briana Holmes, Cameron Holmes, Quentin Collins, Ashten Barge, Adisen Barge, Milea Barge, Nylah Sneed, Kingston Long, Kingsley Long, Mackayla Long, Isiah Stephens, Tori Carr, and Taryn Colvin; great grandchild, Kaleia Colvin and her brothers, James A. Hill and Charlie Shepard. She also leaves behind her godson, Leonardis Shepard, alongside a multitude of family and friends.
A devoted member of the Greater St. Paul United Holy Church, Gloria's vibrant spirit was evident in her service and commitment to her faith and community. She embraced the role of Mother to many with grace and kindness, always putting others before herself. Her love for gardening and her floral creations reflected her nurturing spirit and brought beauty to those around her.
Gloria found joy in helping others at MJ's This and That in Maple Hill, offering her warmth and assistance to anyone seeking the perfect attire for life’s celebrations. Her compassionate heart and dedication to her community made her a beloved figure to all who knew her.
The Homegoing Celebration honoring Gloria will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Greater St. Paul United Holy Church, with interment following at the Newton Family Cemetery in Maple Hill. Family and friends are welcome to the viewing on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Dunn Funeral Home Chapel in Burgaw, NC.
Gloria's memory will forever be a beacon of love and selflessness in the hearts of those who were fortunate to share in her life's journey.
