Mae Gloria Coston Jacobs, age 73, of Lenoir, North Carolina departed this life on August 30, 2013, in Carson, California. She was born on January 29, 1940 the sixth child of eleven children, born to Myrtle C. Murphy Coston and the late John C. Coston, of Wallace, N.C. Gloria graduated in 1958, from Charity High School, Rose Hill, NC. Following high school, she attended North Carolina Central University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry and Mathematics. Gloria furthered her education at Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned both a Master's Degree and Administrative Credential from California State University, at Dominquez Hills and the University of LaVerne, respectively, in Los Angeles, CA. Gloria was employed for over twenty years in Los Angeles, as an educator.

She is survived by her devoted husband of over fifty years, Hezekiah Jacobs; daughters: Lita Jacobs, Lorie Diggs and Libby Jacobs-Hutton (Vernon), of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren: Johnathan Jacobs, Jeremy Diggs, Jennifer Diggs and Dominique Jacobs; great-grandchildren: Jeremiah and Sariah, of Los Angeles, CA; her mother: Myrtle Coston, of Wallace, NC; brothers: John C. Coston (Jean) of Kissimmee, FL, Kenneth R. Coston of Wallace, NC, Arnold C. Coston (Sharlise), of Moreno Valley, CA, William E. Coston, of Rocky Point, NC, and Edward E. Coston, of Temple Hills, MD; sisters: Lillian C. Murray, of Lexington, Park, MD, Marie C. Treadwell, of Long Beach, CA, Jessie C. Reaves (Morris), of Lenoir, NC and Edna C. Byrd (Dr. Frank Byrd), of Durham, NC; brothers-in-law: Willie Samuel Jacobs (Anne), of Wilmington, NC, and Ronald Jacobs (Marlene), of New Bern, NC; sisters-in-law: Lethia Towns, of Burgaw, NC, Daphine Goodwin, and Ida Jacobs, of Chesapeake, VA; Annie Newell (Edward) of Southfield, MI and Shirley Jacobs, of West Bloomfield, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family and dear friends.

A visitation for relatives and friends will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013, 6 pm until 8 pm, at Dunn Funeral Home & Cremations Services, 810 W. Wilmington Street, Burgaw. Funeral services will be conducted 1 pm Saturday, September 7, 2013, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 4134 Piney Woods Road, Watha, NC. Interment will follow the funeral services.

A memorial service is also scheduled for 6:30 pm Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Lenoir Community Church, 1002 Lower Creek Drive, NE, Lenoir, NC. Dunn Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Burgaw.
