George Otis Murphy, 73, of Currie, North Carolina, found eternal peace on July 29, 2026, at his home. Cherished by his children Maurice Simpson (Tina), Benjamin Otis Hansley, Levette Hansley, Bobby DeAndre Hansley (Michelle), eleven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren, his legacy is deeply rooted in family. He is also survived by his brother Jimmy Murphy, Uncle, Deacon James L. Simpson, Aunt Meta Tolver, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

George was a gentle soul, active in the Currie community and always ready to lend a helping hand. A devoted family man, he cherished every moment spent with his children and especially his grandchildren. His passion for guiding young minds was evident in his volunteer work at Malpass Corner Elementary School. An enthusiast of classic cars, George’s heart truly lay with his faith and church community, where he actively worshipped and served.

A celebration of his life will take place at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Moores' Creek Missionary Baptist Church, with interment following at the church cemetery. 

Friends are welcome to pay their respects during the viewing on Sunday August 2, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Dunn Funeral Home Chapel, 810 West Wilmington Street Burgaw, NC.

George's kindness and dedication to family and faith will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
