Obituary

Fred Douglas Murray, Jr., affectionately remembered by family and friends, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, at Duke Raleigh Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was born on November 16, 1961, and throughout his life, touched many hearts with his warmth, strength, and enduring spirit.

Fred leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted mother, Dolores Murray of Brooklyn, NY; his beloved sisters, Sharon Murray of Raleigh, NC, and Evonne Murray of Wilmington, DE; his loving daughter, Iasia Murray-Brown, and son-in-law Michael Brown of Irvington, NJ; and his dear son, Douglas Murray of Albemarle, NC. Fred was a proud grandfather to Jaleen Walters and Skylar Murray, who brought immense joy to his life. He also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends, all of whom will carry his memory in their hearts for years to come.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 noon on April 23, 2025 at Dunn Funeral Home Chapel, 810 W Wilmington St, Burgaw, North Carolina 28425.

The family will receive visitors for a public viewing from 11:00 AM to 11:50 AM, just prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Willard Community Cemetery in Willard, NC.

Fred's presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will remain with all who knew and loved him.
