Floyd Henry Pickett, born on October 5, 1938, in Pender County, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, at Novant New Hanover Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. Floyd’s life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, community, and faith, leaving a legacy cherished by all who knew him.
A devoted member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Floyd served faithfully as an usher for many years, a role that reflected his deep commitment to worship and fellowship. His presence in the house of the Lord was a cornerstone of his life until his health began to decline. Floyd’s spiritual devotion was matched only by his profound love for his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him so much joy and pride.
Floyd’s favorite pastime was watching the television series "In the Heat of The Night," a show that entertained him greatly during quieter moments. Among his simple pleasures, Hershey’s Kisses held a special place as his preferred snack, symbolizing the warmth and joy he found in life’s small comforts.
He is survived by his beloved children, Clejetter Cousins, Norris Pickett, Conway Pickett, and Dorothy Pickett. His grandchildren, Princesess Morant, Myeisha Pickett, Carisma Pickett, Diamond James, Jakita Lane, Jaheim Lane, and Janorris Pickett, and his godson Luther Pickett, carry forward his legacy with love and admiration. Floyd also leaves behind three siblings, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will remember him fondly for his kindness and presence.
Family and friends are invited to honor Floyd’s memory with a service at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church located at 801 Webbtown Road, Maple Hill, NC 28454. The interment will follow in the St. John Church Cemetery, a place Floyd held close to his heart.
A viewing will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Dunn Funeral Home Chapel, 810 West Wilmington Street, Burgaw, NC 28425, where family, friends, and the community can gather to pay their respects and celebrate a life well lived.
Floyd Henry Pickett’s passing is mourned deeply but also remembered with great respect and love. His faith, generosity, and devotion to family have left an indelible mark that will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
