Dr. Darryl W. Jacobs "Doc"
Dr. Darryl W. Jacobs - a vibrant spirit and true pillar of his family - completed his earthly journey on February 28, 2026, leaving an indelible imprint on the hearts of all who knew him. Born on July 12, 1947, in Burgaw, North Carolina, to the late George and Lummie Jacobs, Darryl’s life was defined by joy, laughter, and a deep love for family.
Darryl honorably served his country in the United States Air Force before embarking on a successful career as a chiropractor and business owner. He approached both his profession and personal life with passion, excellence, and a deep commitment to helping others.
Known for his quick wit, unmistakable charm, gift for storytelling, and striking good looks, Darryl was often described as the life of the party. He loved entertaining family and friends and never met a stranger. His warmth and humor drew people in and endeared him to everyone he met.
He leaves to cherish his memory: loving and devoted wife of nearly 25 years, Carrie McIntyre Jacobs; sons, Darryl Jr., Sheldon (Nicole), and Adrien; daughters, Tammy, Lauren, and Myla; stepson, Rachard; granddaughters, Maleah and Arianna; grandsons, Jayden and Robert; brother, Alfonzo Jacobs Sr.; sister, Ethel D. Jacobs Briggs; beloved foster brother, Lorenzo McKoy; aunts, Myrtle McNeill and Hattie Jones; sisters-in-law, Shirley Watkins and Annie McIntyre; brother-in-law, Roy Paige; cousins who shared in his upbringing as siblings, Oglatha Banks (Charlie) and Avon Newkirk (Doris); generations of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many treasured friends.
Darryl’s life will be honored through memorial services in both North Carolina and California. The North Carolina memorial will be held on March 12, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Middle District Missionary Baptist Association, 1821 NC Highway 53 West, Burgaw, NC 28425, with a reception to follow. A California memorial will take place on March 28, 2026.
Darryl lived fully, loved deeply, and left this world better than he found it. His laughter will echo in our memories, and his legacy will continue through the family and friends who carry his light forward.
