Mrs. Doris Mae Anderson Cottle, age 90, passed from this life to the next on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Pender Memorial Hospital.
She enjoyed family gatherings and loved to see them laughing and having a good time together. Doris always loved dancing, especially when she was younger. Her life-time hobby was her house, as she loved decorating and remodeling, and has always maintained a beautiful home. Doris was retired from the Penderlea School Cafeteria where she worked for over twenty years. She was a member of The Watha United Methodist Church, in Watha, NC.
Doris was predeceased in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, Johnnie James Cottle; a daughter, Greta Jean Cottle; two brothers, Jimmy Anderson and Marvin Anderson; and a sister, Ann Lakins.
She is survived by four daughters, Jo'an Rooks of Sneads Ferry, Judy Dickerson and husband Ray of Foxfire, Janet Cartwright and husband Dawson of Watha, and Jeannie Melville and husband Billy of Ivanhoe; her sister Susie Adkins and husband Jim live Burlington, NC.
Doris is also survived by her grandchildren LeVon Moore, Jason Dickerson and wife Irion, Allison Autry, Daniel Cartwright and friend Nina Howard, Robin Pitstick and husband Justin, Keri Whaley and husband Brad; her great-grandchildren are Shannon Moore, Shane Moore, Emma Dickerson, Chloe Dickerson, Aiden Pitstick, Bre Pitstick, Bladen Whaley and Myles Whaley; her great-great-grandchild, Logan Hunter; also many nieces and nephews.
She was so loved by many people and she loved everyone. We will miss her sweet smile and kind and loving ways. She was always so generous andcaring.
A Celebration of her life will be held 12 noon, Saturday, April 12th, 2014, at The Watha United Methodist Church, in Watha, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Watha United Methodist Church.
