Deborah Ann Dixon, beloved daughter of the late Lillian Haley and John Dixon, and granddaughter of the late Cassie Haley, was born on October 23, 1950, in Brooklyn, New York. She peacefully departed this life on September 18, 2025, in Wallace, North Carolina.
Deborah was one of three children. Her brother, Stephen Dixon, preceded her in death in 1992 in York, Pennsylvania, and her twin sister passed away at birth. Deborah received her early education in the Brooklyn public school system, attending P.S. 129, JHS 35, and later Brunswick High School.
At an early age, Deborah accepted Christ and was baptized at James Methodist Church in Brooklyn, NY. She began her professional career with New York Life Insurance Company, where she was employed for nine years. She later worked with the New York Police Department for one year. Seeking a quieter life, Deborah relocated to Poughkeepsie, NY, where she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Eden Park Nursing Home for 15 years. In 1995, she moved to Virginia and continued her compassionate care work at Walnut Hill Nursing Home for 14 years until her health began to decline.
In 2014, Deborah moved to Wallace, North Carolina, to be near her cousins, who lovingly cared for her in her later years. She was known for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and deep faith.
Deborah leaves to cherish her memory a host of loving cousins, an aunt and uncle, her godson David Ash, and her cherished adopted parents, Thomas and Gwendolyn Corissom. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
