Darrell Keith Taylor, Sr., affectionately known to many as Dale, Count, or simply Taylor, passed away on January 29, 2026, at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was born on April 26, 1956, in Lumberton, North Carolina, and raised in Maple Hill, where he forged many cherished connections and lasting memories.
Darrell enjoyed a fulfilling career as a Brick Mason, a vocation that reflected his dedication and craftsmanship. Outside of work, he filled his life with joy, drawing on his passion for playing cards, engaging in family functions, watching old westerns, and spending time outdoors fishing. His love for dogs showcased his gentle spirit and strong affection for animals.
Known for his amiable personality, Darrell had a unique charm, which was humorously encapsulated by the license plate of one of his vehicles that read "LadyMan." This playful moniker was a testament to his fondness for connection and camaraderie, especially with the ladies in his life.
Darrell leaves behind his two sons, Darrell Keith Taylor, Jr. and Terrell Williams, along with his granddaughter, Taejanae Williams. He also shared a close bond with his brother, Micheal Taylor Sr., who will carry forward the cherished memories of their time together.
The community will honor Darrell's life with a visitation and celebration of life service at Greater St Paul United Holy Church in Maple Hill, North Carolina. The visitation will take place on February 21, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a celebration of life from 1:00 PM.
Darrell Keith Taylor, Sr. will be remembered not only for his skilled hands in masonry but also for his loving heart and zest for life's simple pleasures. His legacy of warmth, kindness, and love for his family and friends will remain a guiding light for those who knew him.
