Darrell Keith Taylor, Sr., affectionately known to many as Dale, Count, or simply Taylor, passed away on January 29, 2026, in Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was born on April 26, 1956, in Lumberton, North Carolina, and spent his youth growing up in the close-knit community of Maple Hill.
A dedicated brick mason by trade, Darrell leaves behind a legacy of hard work and craftsmanship, as well as a warm and generous spirit that touched everyone he met. He had a well-known charm, famously reflected in his vehicle's license plate that read "LadyMan," highlighting his effortless ability to connect with the ladies around him.
Darrell was a man of varied interests and hobbies. He found joy in simple pleasures: playing cards, attending family functions, relishing old western films, spending time with his beloved dogs, fishing in tranquil waters, and enjoying good food. Each of these activities showcased his zest for life and unwavering commitment to creating memorable moments with those he loved.
He is survived by his two sons, Darrell Keith Taylor, Jr. and Terrell Williams, along with his granddaughter, Taejanae Williams. The family takes solace in the fond memories shared with Darrell, celebrating his life and the many ways he brought joy to their lives.
Although the details regarding his funeral service have not yet been scheduled, they will be announced in due course, allowing all who were touched by Darrell’s life to pay their respects. He will be dearly missed but will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
