With hearts full of love and gentle sorrow, we remember the life of Dancie Thomas, née Mott, who passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, at Davis Health Care in Wilmington, NC. Dancie was born on May 1, 1934, in Atkinson, North Carolina, and with each of her 92 years, she shared warmth, kindness, and her truly easy-going spirit with all who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her children, Gwendolyn Armstrong (George), Rodney Thomas, Jr.(Norma), Reginald Thomas (Lourrie), Rosalyn Thomas, Antony Thomas (Pamela); ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, siblings, Annie Houston and Joe Mott and a host of nieces nephews cousins and friends.
Dancie spent her days nurturing beautiful gardens, her gentle hands coaxed life from the soil, and her love for gardening was evident in every blooming flower and flourishing plant she tended. Her garden was only a small reflection of the nurturing spirit she brought to each relationship in her life. To know Dancie was to witness grace, patience, and quiet strength.
Her proudest accomplishments were not found in accolades or public recognition, but in the lives of her children. They were her greatest joy and legacy, and she cherished each moment spent with them, watching them grow, loving them deeply, and guiding them gently on their own paths.
