In Loving Memory of Colonel Cleveland Simpson
February 4, 1940 – April 14, 2025
On April 14, 2025, Colonel Cleveland Simpson peacefully departed this world, leaving behind a legacy defined by wisdom, sacrifice and love. Born on February 4, 1940, Colonel Simpson dedicated his life to the service of his country, retiring from the United States Air Force with honor and distinction. His life was a testament to integrity, compassion, and an enduring commitment to both his nation and his community.
He was the devoted husband of the late Jereline Malloy Simpson, his lifelong partner in love and life. Together, they built a family rooted in love, excellence and integrity. Colonel Simpson is lovingly remembered by his children: Rev. Giovanni & Rev. Felicia Simpson (wife), Jill Melissa Simpson Dyson & Todd (husband) Dyson, and by the memory of his son, Omar J. Simpson, daughter in law Cleopatra Simpson. His daughter, Cobi Magdalyn Simpson, and his treasured grandchildren, Giovanni (Vanni) Simpson, Hallel (Halle) & Kiyah (wife) Simpson, Ebony Keturah Gaines, Afsatu (Afsa) Simpson, Jay Omar (Jay) Simpson, Issa & Mitchell (Husband) Sutter, and Isiah (Zay) Dyson—will forever carry his teachings and his love in their hearts.
A Celebration of Colonel Simpson's life will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Moores Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 60 Minuteman Rd, Currie, NC 28435. Family and friends are invited to attend a public visitation beginning at 2:00 PM, concluding at 2:50 PM, prior to the service. Full military honors will follow, a solemn tribute to his distinguished and honorable service.
Colonel Simpson will be laid to rest at Malloy-Lewis Cemetery in Rocky Point, NC—a peaceful resting place and a lasting symbol of the incredible life he lived.
His wisdom, compassion, and steadfast dedication to family and country will live on in all who knew and loved him. Though he may be gone from our sight, his spirit will remain with us—forever guiding, forever inspiring.
Rest in honor, Colonel Simpson. You are deeply loved and profoundly missed.
