Claudia Stack, age 57, of Rocky Point, passed away early on Christmas Eve. She slipped away peacefully with her husband and sisters at her side, finally free of the intense pain she had endured for more than two years from metastatic breast cancer.
She was a devoted horsewoman and animal lover.
Claudia will be lovingly remembered by her husband Joseph Stack, children Alden and Jack, mother Annice Alt, sisters Joyce Probst MacAlpine (Heath), Helen Probst Mills (Stuart) and Barbara Morrow (George), and many nieces and nephews.
Claudia was an educator, author, award-winning filmmaker, preservationist and writer who was committed to lifting up the stories of her African American neighbors and friends and their communities across the Southern United States.
Links to her videos, books and articles can be found on her Wikipedia page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claudia_Stack .
There will be a private family service and internment in January, and a public Celebration of Life in late winter.
In lieu of flowers, a tribute gift can be made in Claudia's memory to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation on the website - https://tnbcfoundation.org/support-us/donate
