Later in life, he returned to his roots in North Carolina, working at the State Port in Wilmington. Throughout his career, Charlie’s commitment and work ethic were evident, earning him respect in every community he touched.

Beyond his professional life, Charlie found joy and purpose in the company of his grandchildren and family. He treasured the moments spent together, especially enjoying outings to Golden Corral, where laughter and conversation flowed freely. His leisure time was often filled with watching his favorite game shows, an activity that brought him both entertainment and relaxation. Additionally, Charlie challenged his mind with crossword puzzles.

VISITATION/FUNERAL SERVICE

The visitation for Charlie Mitchell Bannerman will be held on March 28, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, located at 810 W Wilmington St in Burgaw, North Carolina. This will be a time for friends and family to come together and honor his memory. 

The funeral service will follow on March 29, 2026, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the same location, with the service concluding by 4:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Pike Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Burgaw, NC.
