Charlene Nacole Bannerman, lovingly known as Shay Shay, was born on April 24, 1985, in Wilmington, North Carolina, and passed away on October 10, 2026, at her residence. Resilient despite her battle with diabetes, Charlene is remembered with deep love for the brightness of her spirit and the warmth she brought to those around her.
Shay Shay was a bubbly, happy person who would help anyone. She lived with an authenticity that made her presence a comfort to others, and she found joy in the simple things. Those who knew her will remember the way she brought lightness and kindness into everyday moments. She loved traveling, trying new restaurants, and playing video games in her spare time. She was also known as a great cook, sharing that gift in a way that brought people together. To all who knew her, Charlene was an anchor, someone whose steady and loving presence meant more than words can fully express.
She is survived by her mother, Brenda Bannerman; her father, Charles Baker III; her brother, Derek Jacobs; and her sister, Breane Jacobs. Along with a host of relatives and friends. In their hearts, and in the hearts of all who loved her, Charlene’s memory will remain a lasting source of love and strength.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 810 W Wilmington St, Burgaw, North Carolina 28425. Burial will take place at Joel Walker Family Cemetery in Willard, North Carolina.
Charlene’s life, and the love she gave so freely, will be remembered always.
