Brenda Bernice Coleman, born Brenda Bernice Bowen, passed away on October 18, 2026, at Corewell Health in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She was born on June 30, 1967, in Bladen County, North Carolina.

Brenda will be remembered as an outgoing, funny, loving, and caring woman who embodied everything a mother should be. She brought warmth to those around her and was known for the joy and comfort she created in everyday life. An amazing cook, she shared her love generously through the meals she prepared and the time she spent with the people she cherished most.

She found happiness in fishing, hunting, cooking, gardening, and especially in spending time with her grandkids. These simple but meaningful pleasures reflected the heart of who she was. Among all of her blessings and accomplishments, being a mother and grandmother was what made her most proud.

She was preceded in death by her son, Sanford Bowen, whose memory remained a part of her life and heart.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Marrico Coleman; and by Kawanna (Fredrick) Rhodes and Marrico (Kayla) Coleman Jr. She also leaves behind the love and memory she poured into her family, which will remain with them always.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on October 25, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 810 W Wilmington St, Burgaw, North Carolina 28425. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Union Missionary Baptist Church, 1437 East Arcadia Road, Riegelwood, North Carolina 28456. Burial will take place at Pleasant Union Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Riegelwood, North Carolina.

Brenda’s life was rooted in love, laughter, family, and the everyday gifts of care she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
