Bishop William A. Davis, a devoted pastor, gifted musician, and beloved family man, transitioned peacefully on March 31, 2026, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Born on April 19, 1944, in Worchester, Maryland, Bishop Davis dedicated his life to faith, family, and service, leaving behind a legacy marked by love, leadership, and spiritual guidance.

Family was of the utmost importance to Bishop Davis. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, finding joy and strength in their presence. He is survived by his devoted wife, Elder Marion Walker Davis, who stood beside him through every step of his remarkable journey. Together, they nurtured a large and loving family, including their children: Missionary Sheena D. Tate, Elder Jeffrey A. Davis, Minister Eric W. Davis, Terrance T. Walker, Elder Anteia Davis Spence, and Minister William A. Davis II. His legacy continues through sixteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren, each a testament to his enduring influence and care.

Bishop Davis also leaves behind cherished siblings: Sylvia Drummond, Ruth J. Beckett, Elder Carrie Davis, Minister Henrietta Pitts, and Clarenda Dryers, whose shared memories and bonds provided support and strength throughout his life.

Funeral Arrangements

Those wishing to honor Bishop Davis’s memory are invited to a Celebration of Life at noon on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at The Middle District Baptist Association on Highway 53 in Burgaw, North Carolina. Interment will follow in the Walkertown Family Cemetery on Walkertown Road in Burgaw. 

Visitation and Viewing with family

Friends and relatives may pay their respects during a viewing held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Dunn Funeral Home Chapel, located at 810 West Wilmington Street, Burgaw, North Carolina.

For fifty years, Bishop Davis faithfully served as a pastor, shepherding his congregation with wisdom, compassion, and commitment. His passion for teaching the word of the gospel inspired countless individuals, and his talents extended beyond the pulpit. As an author, musician, recording artist, and singer, he touched the hearts of many through his creative endeavors, enriching the spiritual lives of all who knew him.

Bishop William A. Davis touched many lives through his steadfast devotion to faith and family, his artistic talents, and the profound warmth with which he shared his gifts. His journey on this earth was marked by a genuine love for teaching, traveling with his family, and uplifting those around him. Though he is dearly missed, his spirit endures in the hearts of all who were privileged to know him.
