On October 25, 2026, Mother Betty Simpson of Currie, NC, embraced eternal peace at the age of 90, joining Heaven's Garden from her sister's home. Cherished by her devoted family, she leaves behind her children, Ann Jones, Laura Murphy, and Linward Simpson, along with a legacy carried by her beloved grandchildren: Damera Hand, Gary Henry, Kenny Simpson, Devetta Simpson, Crystal Holden, Philip Murphy, Lewis Murphy, Jr., Jonathan Simpson, Donnell Oliver, Seneca Oliver, Erica Simpson, LaBarbara Simpson, and Antwan Simpson, as well as a vast circle of friends and kin.

A celebration of her remarkable life will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Union Chapel Baptist Church, 12401 US Highway 421, Burgaw, NC. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in the Union Chapel Cemetery. A viewing is scheduled for 12:00 PM to 12:50 PM prior to the service at the church.

Betty's spirit was anchored in her faith, as she found great joy attending church, arriving early despite not being able to drive. Her family was the light of her life. Known for her culinary delights, her cabbage was celebrated by all. She also found solace in puzzle books and the timeless tales of western films.

To honor Mrs. Simpson, the family kindly requests that any floral tributes be in shades of blue and white, reflecting the tranquility and grace she exemplified in life.
