Bernard V. Bloodworth, a devoted family man and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away on May 22, 2026, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. Born on February 8, 1947, in New Hanover County, Bernard lived a life marked by determination, love, and faith.

Bernard was known as a churchgoing man who deeply loved the Lord. His praise was heartfelt, expressed not only in song but also in joyful shouting, demonstrating his vibrant spirit and dedication to his faith. His church community was a cornerstone of his life, reflecting the values he held dear.

Family was at the center of Bernard’s world. He is lovingly survived by his two daughters and one son, who were his pride and joy. Bernard's heart belonged especially to his children and grandchildren, with whom he cherished spending time. His commitment to those he loved was evident in the way he nurtured these relationships throughout his life.

In addition to his children, Bernard’s family includes his siblings: George Bloodworth, Sr., married to Martha; Hezakiah Nixon III, married to Antoinette; Jernell Simmons, married to Dwaine; and Catherine Nixon. His extended family comprises grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends who will remember him fondly for his loving nature and the strength of his character.

Bernard was a man of strong will and determination. Whatever goal he set before himself, he pursued it with tenacity until he saw it accomplished. Beyond his personal and spiritual pursuits, Bernard was an enthusiastic supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers, proudly cheering on his favorite team. 

SERVICE DETAILS

Homegoing services to celebrate Bernard Vincent Bloodworth’s life will be held at 12 noon on Monday, June 1, 2026, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, located at 701 South 12th Street, Wilmington, North Carolina 28401. The family will receive friends during viewing one hour prior to the service, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. Interment will follow at Shoulder Branch Cemetery in Castle Hayne.

Bernard’s legacy is one of faith, family, and fervent dedication. He will be sincerely missed by all who knew him but remembered with enduring love and respect. Service colors will be navy blue, light blue and white.
