Obituary

Amos Rudolph Dixon, a stalwart of both the forces and communities he served, departed this world on December 24, 2025, at the Liberty Commons Nursing Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. Born on November 16, 1942, in Wilmington, he lived a life marked by dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment to duty.

Amos served his country with honor in the United States Air Force. His military service was a testament to his character, showcasing the values of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance that he carried throughout his life. Beyond the uniform, he embraced various roles in life—broadcasting, carpentry, and landscaping maintenance engineering—each performed with the same tenacity that defined his military career. Amos left an enduring mark on all he touched, whether through his craftsmanship or the stories he shared during his time in broadcasting.

He is survived by his son, Scott Dixon of Columbus, Ohio, and his son Darryl Jackson of Dayton, Ohio. Amos's legacy of kinship extends to his sister, Evangeline Dixon Vann of Pasadena, California, and his brother, Samuel Jefferson Dixon of San Diego, California. In addition, he leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom cherished him dearly and will carry his memory forward.

Amos is preceded in death by his parents, Louvenia Boney Dixon and Hullie C. Dixon, Sr. He joins in eternal rest his siblings: Hullie C. Dixon, Jr., William Boney Dixon, Gerald Louis Dixon, and sister Mary Elizabeth Dixon Robinson, as well as his daughter Angie Dixon. Their reunion in peace reminds those left behind of the bonds that death cannot sever. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Zina Zeigler for her unwavering dedication and care for Amos Dixon. As his Power of Attorney, Zina selflessly looked after his needs and well-being, offering constant support whether near or far. Her kindness and devotion meant more than words can express.

As we honor the memory of Amos Rudolph Dixon, we salute a man who navigated the complexities of life with honor and integrity. His contributions to his family, community, and country will forever resonate, echoing the lessons of courage, service, and love he imparted to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace, Airman; your duty is done.
