Obituary for Alonzo Jerome Smith

Mr. Alonzo Jerome Smith, Born August 10, 1965, in Albany, Georgia, passed away on September 20, 2024 in Wilmington, NC. Alonzo was the beloved son of Dornal Lorene Smith-Greene (Edward) and Harry (Debbie) Smith.

Alonzo grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts, where he completed his schooling. He was a man of great skill and ambition, turning his passion for automobiles into a career. As an entrepreneur, Alonzo excelled in both auto mechanics and body work, painting cars with meticulous care and craftsmanship.

He is survived by his loving brother, Stephone (Ronnette) Smith. Siblings: Marcel Coe(Sharon), Tyese Smith and Alfreda Walker. He shared an unbreakable bond with his two special nephews, Stephone Smith Jr. and Khari Smith.

Alonzo shared a meaningful, long-term relationship with Linda Jordan and embraced her family as his own. He developed a strong bond with Linda's son Tyrone and his wife Ella, treating them both with the care and love of a father. Alonzo found immense joy in being a part of their children, Devin and Destiny's, lives from the moment they were born, proudly considering them as his grandchildren. His relationship with Destiny was particularly special, forming a connection that will forever be cherished. In addition, he leaves his uncles, Edward Steve Hall, Vandyke Smith. his aunts, Louise Brown and Karen (Daniel) Brown.

Alonzo's family and friends will forever remember him for his hardworking spirit, creativity, and devotion to those he loved. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

A service to honor his life will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, 1:00 pm at Dunn Funeral Home Chapel, 810 W Wilmington St, Burgaw, NC 28425. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice in Alonzo's memory.
