With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude for a life well-lived, we remember and honor Alice Milton (née Gurganious), who passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, in Atkinson, North Carolina. Born on November 14, 1942, in beautiful Pender County, NC, Alice’s journey was one that deeply touched all who came to know her.
Alice was a woman defined by her happy spirit, direct manner, and unwavering loyalty. She lived her life with genuine warmth, her eyes always lighting up with kindness and her words filled with honesty. Those privileged to be close to her knew her as someone who said what she meant and meant every word, a rare and treasured quality.
Embracing the role of caregiver, Alice dedicated much of her life to the service of others as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her compassion shone through in the gentle care she provided, ensuring comfort and dignity for each person entrusted to her. In this work, Alice found purpose, embodying a compassion that truly knew no bounds.
Yet, it was her family of whom Alice was most proud. While the details are not all named here, it is clear that those who called her mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, or friend held her deepest affections. The many cherished memories she created with them will serve as a comfort in the days and years to come. Alice leaves behind a host of relatives and friends whose lives are brighter because of her love.
Alice delighted in the simple beauty of nature, especially through gardening. Whether tending to vibrant blooms or nurturing quiet corners of green, she found joy and peace working in the earth, sharing her bounty and her knowledge freely with others. A garden under her care flourished—a testament to the nurturing spirit she brought to all aspects of her life.
Her legacy endures not just in the lives she touched but in the happiness she spread, the directness that made her counsel invaluable, and the loyalty that made her love so steadfast. The stories and love she shared will never be forgotten.
Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Alice are invited to gather for visitation on July 1, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 810 W Wilmington St, Burgaw, NC 28425. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Lakes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 9529 Point Caswell Road, Atkinson, NC 28421.
As we say farewell, we hold Alice’s memory close, grateful for the lasting imprint she has left on our hearts. Her happy, direct, and loyal presence will be dearly missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
